Pig Hotel Project for the Village of San Marcos
           (Animals for Others Project)

New World Villages has a long history of working with the Animals for Others Program in the Toledo District of Belize.  In August of 2008,working with Dorla Bowman, Executive Director of Socio-Economic Outreach, we took the next step in our efforts to improve the lives of subsistent farmers in the area, by financing the materials needed and providing the labor to build a large holding pen for the animals used in the program.
Three NWV board members and five volunteers from Washington, California, and Arizona, banded together to make this our most ambitious project for 2008. This project will allow a local supply of piglets to be available for villagers in the area who are screened to become part of the Animals for Others program, designed to improve the nutrition and health of those it serves.
